Night Gowns - Caring For Intimate Apparel
Many women are eager to wear beautiful night gowns, but are unsure of how to properly care for them. Giving your lingerie the proper care can provide years of extra wear, and is an easy way to keep all of your most delicate brassieres, panties, camisoles and intimate apparel looking like they did the day you bought them. Knowing how to wash, dry, and store your night gowns and other lingerie is vital to keeping them looking great

The first, and most obvious
teddy lingerie, point is to check the care labels of any undergarments that you purchase. These labels or tags generally always have very specific instructions on caring and washing whichever style you have chosen, which temperature is best, and of course the best drying method. These instructions are very important and as a rule of thumb should always be followed.
They are designed with the fabric and trim or embellishments of your nightgowns in mind. For example, if you have washed the same material in your machine washer before with fine results, if the label recommends hand-washing, don抰 disregard that suggestion. Any lingerie that you place in a machine washer should always be placed in a mesh lingerie bag and run on the delicate cycle. Mesh lingerie bags are quite readily available, are inexpensive, and prevent straps and lace from getting caught in the agitator of the machine.
Second, it is a good idea to invest in a fabric wash designed for delicates. You don抰 have to spend a great deal of money on this; most grocery stores will stock several brands next to the regular detergent. These washes are mild and do not contain harsh chemicals or bleaches that regular laundry soaps, and are designed to wash lingerie and other fine items. A little of these goes a long way, and your nightgowns will thank you for it! Here is a great lingerie tip if you are ever in a pinch, whether you are travelling or cannot find fabric wash designed for delicates - simply mix a bit of shampoo with warm water, and voila you have temporary lingerie fabric wash.
Storage is the next issue for consideration. Night gowns made from cotton, wool, flannel, or other fairly sturdy fabrics may be folded gently in a drawer
corset tops, or hung on hanger. Whenever possible, eschew the cheap wire hangers used by dry cleaners and invest in some quality wooden or padded hangers. Panties may be folded in a drawer; bras should be carefully folded so that their cups are stacked one inside the other. Any delicate, stretchy knits should not be hung up, lest they get pulled out of shape. Fold them gently and place in on a shelf or in a drawer; if you desire
plus size corset, place some scented drawer lines in your lingerie chest, or scatter sachets of potpourri throughout. Crumbled-up bath bombs make excellent potpourri; simply place the crumbles in a fabric bag and secure it tightly on top.
To keep your night gowns and other lingerie safe while hanging in the closet, use hangers that have hooks or indentations in them to hold the straps in place. This will greatly decrease the chances that the straps will fall off the hanger, leaving your valuable garments on the floor (and possibly in the path of pets or small children with sticky fingers!).
Remember that the life span of any garment can be significantly increased simply by taking good, gentle care of it.
