I love my dog. For those of you who don’t know, I have a 7 year old golden retriever named Gershwin. I’ve had him since he was 6 weeks old. He’s my first pet…meaning I bought ghd mk4 him and learned how to train him. We do look alike. We both have adorable narrow faces, dark eyes, mischievous eyebrows and very curly hair…except he’s a red head and I’m a brunette. We also both have flattering grey hairs around our faces. The only provinces he hasn’t pooped in yet are YK, NS, PEI and NL. This is mostly due to the fact that we haven’t taken road trips to these places. Yet… Anyhow, cheapÂ*beatsÂ*byÂ*dre a friend of mine who is also a dog lover has greyhounds. She adopted her greyhounds through this fabulous agency:
http://www.chinookwindsgreyhounds.org/index.htm The Red Deer Chapter is having a fundraising picnic on September 10th and my friend asked if I would paint something for the fundraiser. Dogs. Painting. Donation. Raising money to find good homes for dogs. Um…yes please! So here is what I’ve got so far. I think I’m going to call it “being hounded” and have that written somewhere on it…bottom right maybe? The dogs will have paper and ink on them. Mixed media canine goodness. It’s little projects like this that make me really thankful for mad skills with a brush and acrylic gel. That, and friends advocating worthy causes. It also constantly tempts me to become that ‘artist with all the damn dogs’. One day…one day, I will be THAT artist. I will also live just outside of town and close to water, so we all can go swimming. I can just picture all the dog beds with neatly curled up dogs…or dogs in a random pile by one wall of the studio… …but Troy Polamalu jerseys then who DOESN’T love sleeping in a pile?
