In the postgame celebration in the Mets’ clubhouse early Thursday morning, only one player was distinctly unhappy.
Francisco Rodriguez, whose blown save opportunity in the ninth inning forced the Mets to play four hours and 13 innings before finally winning the game,

“I’m going to speak as a fan, I’m not going to speak as a player,” Rodriguez said after the Mets beat the Oakland Athletics, 3-2, in 13 innings. “I’ve got to get my head out of my butt, pretty much simple as that. I have to stop those pathetic outings. They are really pathetic. I’ve got to get it done and find a way to go out there and make quality pitches and start getting people out.”
After converting 19 consecutive chances,
