The Problem with Modern Life is … Some things are OLD and just hang around like a weird guy late the next day after a party, Some things just keep happening again and again and again, you think I must get round to that but you never Hi I thought I would do an intro to IT professions, but this also includes hobbyists. We, in this little group we call Information Technology have many different shades of different colours, as to, the things we do with computers. please excuse the crudity of the diagram.. System builders are in the middle, with the meeting of Software and Hardware, each has also an extreme version, which is in the second tier. I include infrastructure network builders (server IT builders) with system builders, Webmasters are included in Developers, and Security Specialists are included in OS Developers. These are only opinions, but I was using this to explain to my GF whats what in IT jobs. I think she thought I was a coder, which I am not, I dont really know any code, but can hack eg sudo root etc iphone a little, and Linux commands. Hackers in the diagram are software hackers, guys and prolly gals who help us out by modifying code, to say, unlock our iphones, put linux on things were really know we shouldnt lol but its fun, and generally mess about with code, both devs and hackers in this diagram are friendly people who just wanna help us for free and/or make a living doing it. The nasty Hackers here are the OS Hackers as i call them, these are guys/gals who in someway want to modify your system OS to behave in their interest, not yours. Such as, trojans, worms and tunnellers, also out and out viruses. OS Developers are the people who write apps and programs for an OS, such as, someone who is part of a team who writes a media player, <a href="http://www.8shoxonline.com/nike-shox-r4-shoes-c-12.html">Nike Shox R4 Shoes</a> text editor, browser et~al, which is included at the launch of an OS or OS version. They Develop for a specific OS as a job. I coin the phrase Telnet Hacker because the the oldest way to learn how to hack is the Telnet system , these guys are 50/50 …some just want to stop governments hiding things, some want your bank details. After this in the Software branch of things is the last one, OS Companies such as, in order of magnitude (i think) Microsoft, Apple, world of warcraft gold Red Hat, Canonical. Above them are people who are not branded companies who create OSs, but teams who do it in their spare time, such as the ReactOS team, the Arch team, IcAros team. we also have Linux Mod Devs, the nice guys/gals who make the Linux kernel, the Ace Rimmers of the OS branch. on the opposite side to system builders we have engineers, ..when Im following a tutorial, and the soldering iron comes out, I go ahhh their an engineer!, soldering every little bit that falls off, good guys Modders, Mod hardware and cases, youve prolly seen some cool cases on the net, if not Google PC case mods, I think youll be pleasantly surprised what these guys can do. I do some light modding myself, but nothing so amazing as these guys. Next in the Hardware branch we have OEMs (Original End Manufactures) such as Dell, HP, IBM Lenovo, but also LG, HTC, and Samsung. I didnt include Apple because they are also OS vendors, very few are both Software and Hardware vendors, the only other one I can think of right now is Blackberry. Manufacture Modders are a rare breed, they even can take the components of the motherboard apart to change the functionality..wow. I bumped into one on MacRumors Forums, a guy called DuPPs, he replaced the CPU in a MacBook Core Duo with a Core 2 Duo, ..wow. but I imagine you could do the same with a chipset and other things, buuut I dunno anything about that. Prefabrication OEMs are companies like, Intel, AMD~ATi, nVidia, Via, SIS. these guys play with silicone and graphene to make the chips in the first place, but also Memory Manufactures like Samsung, Hitachi and Kingston.
