Seventies inspiration by Cheong Phin
CAMP taste in fashion can be mesmerising when it's balanced with inventiveness and quality of luxury. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than at Louis Vuitton's womenswear this season. Artistic director Marc Jacobs elevated decadence to artistry with a colourful 1970s -inspired collection full of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Chinoiserie references for Spring / Summer 2011,

LOVE it or hate it,

The engaging Art Deco style backdrop from the Paris show was recreated at the press presentation of the new Spring / Summer 2011 womenswear in Seoul recently.
Glossy faux marble flooring, mirror-tiled panels together with a red Chinese screen and a prop tiger lent a high-camp note to Jacobs's fashion agenda of overly stylised looks with a distinct 70s vibe (midi-length hemlines, kimono sleeves, flared trousers) in key themes of colour-blocking, animal motifs, bold floral prints and Chinoiserie.
COLOUR BLOCKING
Contrasting colour combinations are often used to boldly outline the geometric and angular shapes of Art Deco style.
Jacobs translates it beautifully onto a ######y mandarin-collar dress in eggplant,

Jacobs's first fashion job in Paris during the 70s was with Kansai Yamamoto, then a leading Japanese contemporary fashion designer,
