Alexa Chung attended the 7th Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards this week, also in New York, and made a statement in high-waisted black shorts showing off her legs,NBA Hats, along with a classic white button-down shirt with a prominent necklace and sky-high peep-toe platforms with an ankle strap. Overall, the black shorts and white shirt combo is simple, but her styling and accessories make the outfit special.

Look 2: Whitney’s Muted Animal Prints

Black tights, paired with these raised combat booties, will make your legs appear long. While Dr. Martens like Whitney’s would complement the look, I chose heeled lace-up workman boots to add a bit more femininity and structure. Finally, these square brown tortoise sunglasses are a modern take on a classic.

Ms. R combined a sequined Opening Ceremony skirt (note the see-thru silk!) with a slouchy black sweater, blue ankle boots,cheap Cleveland Indians Hats, and a brown clutch. The top half of her look is very Bonnie, as in Bonnie and Clyde, and the bottom half is very festive — in a way,yves saint laurent boots, reminiscent of a holiday party. High-waisted trouser shorts, like these from Urban Outfitters, are a great piece to add to your wardrobe because of their versatility: Being shorts,Players Authentic Hats, they are by nature casual, but can also be dressed up.
