Surprisingly useful

Here's how I use the timer features: 1. For group photos that I'm in: 10 second initial delay so I can get myself into the shot, then 3-7 pictures (depending on the group) with 3-5 second delays in-between. Assuming that you're going to take a handful of shots in the first place is *so* much easier than going back to start the camera's self-timer again, then getting back into the picture. 2. For long (bulb) exposures where I don't want to watch a stopwatch. 3. For working with models more interactively, instead of hiding behind the camera, although the RS model does this just fine, too. 4. Really, any time you'd want to use the remote part. Yes, it requires a battery (unlike the manual RS-80N3), but without a battery it still functions as a RS-80N3. The battery is *strictly* for the timer features. The locking remote functionality is Wireless Timer Remote CANON all mechanical, a pleasant surprise to me when I first got it. I haven't replaced the battery after 1-1/2 years, nor seen any indications it's running low. There's no power switch, but it doesn't need one. Improvements that could be made: - yes, the LCD is lit, but the labels for what each icon means aren't. Still, the icons are fairly intuitive and I can read the labels with my cell phone or the camera's back LCD. - there's no lanyard hole for hanging it off of a tripod, and no clip for attaching to a camera strap, so--with me--it frequently hangs in space, held up by the camera's remote socket.
