Jon Stewart had on Betsy McCaughey last night. McCaughey is a former lieutenant ruler of New York, who made her career and fame in 1993 by speaking out against President Clinton’s health reform exertion with contentions that constantly ranged from slightly misleading to outright fiction. (See here for the Atlantic’s Jim Fallows on one of her biggest whoppers–the claim that ClintonCare would limit patients from seeking care outside the administration sponsored system.)
This year she is many in the newspaper because she is guiding the charge opposition President Obama’s health reform bill,
Cheap UGGs, arguing with misleading testify namely presidential guide Ezekial Emanuel is a “deadly doctor” and claiming namely the House bill ambition make it “mandatory” for Medicare patients to be counseled each five years above “how to end their life sooner.” (In fact, the House bill provides reimbursement for optional counseling conferences that absence predetermined outcomes. For a fuller debate of this,
Beats by dre monster, and the Republican-roots of the counseling motifs,
UGG boots, watch here and here.)
There are complicated and difficult issues raised along either Emanuel’s scholarship and the end-of-life counseling–see Joe’s contention beneath with Charles Krauthammer. But McCaughey’s approach to the health attention argue tends to be fewer engaging than aggressive,
Beats by dr dre studios, stripped of nuance, and distracting. All of which makes her arrival last night on the Daily Show very a ride to watch.
There are 2 other sections of the same interview posted online. They can be seen here.
