Spreadsheets today support critical business processes, from financial reporting and analysis to research and development. As a result, they have become an important enterprise resource that must be included when addressing compliance requirements. Some of the more recent regulations like Section 404 of the Sarbanes Oxley Act even offer specific guidance around spreadsheets supporting financial reporting processes. Over the past year, we’ve talked with customers, regulators, and solution providers to get a better understanding of what compliance means and how it applies to spreadsheets. We’ve distilled this research into a white paper that discusses these points and offers some process oriented strategies for addressing the compliance challenges specific to spreadsheets. The paper also describes how the capabilities in the Office 2007 System, when combined with a sound strategy, can help enforce compliance controls and increase business productivity. A lot of the work we did on servers in Office 2007 was designed with compliance in mind, so we think this version of Office should be very helpful to enterprises in this regard. You can find the whitepaper here. Enjoy! <div
