Are you an XBOX fanatic?! Have a webcam? This may interest you... [Beta News 4/16/07]
Microsoft said Monday that it will sponsor a contest that asks participants to create a new television show. The winner will have his concept premiere as an exclusive TV show for Xbox Live. The Redmond company has made a strong push to promote its Xbox 360 console as a media center rather than just a gaming console. Xbox Live now hosts some 1,500 hours of television and movie content, with plans to continue to expand that number in the coming months. While Microsoft has signed deals with several major media companies,Windows 7 Download, the contest marks its first steps into social video. The company sees the initiative as a novel way to enter into what has become a major new entertainment industry. A $100,000 budget will be awarded to the winning entry, along with a six-episode commitment. A pilot of the winning show would be shown at the annual New York Television Festival in September, Microsoft and the event said. I wonder what the leading entries will look like? Something like this, perhaps?
Video: I'm bringing XBOX back (from on10.net) But I digress… When I saw this news announcement, it made me wonder about the future of online resumes. With so many webcams out there and so many tech savvy individuals on the web,Office 2010, I wonder how long it will be before video resumes become the norm. I have debated this issue from the HR perspective ad nauseum,Microsoft Office Professional 2007, but I would be curious to know how job hunters feel about the issue. So let me just ask the question burning inside me. If you were a game developer with a pretty cool idea for Microsoft, would you send us a video message introducing yourself, describe your passion for developing games and a few shots of your creation in action? For the record,Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, I’m not looking to place anyone in any particular position. I am just curious as to who would be willing to try something different,Microsoft Office 2007, rather than apply for a role like everyone else.
