Yesterday, it was reported that Ricky Gervais revealed he has been asked to present the Golden Globes next year. But the actor and comedian was unsure if he would accept or reject the offer of hosting the awards show for a third time in a row.
But the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) issued a statement denying that they had invited Gervais to host the Golden Globes next year.
UsMagazine.com reports that association president Philip Berk was quoted in the statement saying, "There is no truth to this rumor. We have not asked him to come back. Nice try, Ricky."
Gervais took to his blog where he clarified his earlier revelation, "You may also have read that I am hosting next year's Golden Globes. This is not true. Not yet anyway."
He continued, "The TV show organizers said they were happy with everything and asked me to not rule out a third gig. However, it is not entirely up to them. The Hollywood Foreign Press and various other committees need to meet and agree. I have no idea if they want me back again."
Gervais goes on to say, "Also, even if they did want me back, at the moment I'm pretty sure I shouldn't do it. But I'll tell you this. If they do invite me back and I accept

He concluded with, "Once again, everyone has been warned."
Gervais came under fire for crossing the line at the annual awards show, which was broadcast worldwide. The comedian took jabs at actor Charlie Sheen's latest scandal
