What if you didn't have to fork over $350 for that





What if you didn't have to fork over $350 for that ugly, ill-fitting prom dresses, emerald green taffeta bridesmaid's dress? What if you could pay a fraction of the price and return it when the evening was over?
Better yet � what if you didn't have to wear an ugly dress at all?
"We've heard a lot of stories from women who were very unhappy about having to pay hundreds of dollars for a dress they really didn't like that was going to hang in their closet," said Jennifer Fleiss, President of Rent the Runway. "Add the bachelorette party Cocktail dresses, bridal shower gifts and it really ball gown dresses, really adds up."
Rent the Runway, which rents designer dresses cheap long prom dresses, jewels and bags for all occasions now offers emotionally and financially spent bridesmaids a chance to wear a dress by designers including Nicole Miller Formal dresses, Tracy Reese plus size prom dresse, Calypso and Badgley Mischka for $100 or less.
The collections are color coordinated but the styles can be mixed and matched to flatter your very different friends: Your size 12 pal with the 38DD bust can feel comfortable dancing in a scoop necked dress with a flattering A-line skirt, while your petite pal can wear the one shouldered look with a pencil skirt.
Here's how it works: You pick a dress and send your bridesmaids links to the webpage. They choose the version that they feel will be the most flattering. If they're confused, they call one of the stylists standing by. Rent the Runway sends the dresses directly to your bridesmaids' houses in 2 sizes. They try them on for fit, they send them back. The dress is reserved and sent again before the wedding.
Fleiss told the Daily News that they stock dresses from a size 0 to a size 16. She suggests calling or emailing a stylist if you don't see your size available on the site.
What about jewelry? If you want your bridemaids to sparkle, don't ask them to shell out money for real diamonds or worse A-Line prom dresses, cheesy knockoff costume junk.
Why not rent their baubles as part of their service to the bride? At $10 and up, even the most budget friendly bride can shell out for that.
So what are the hot colors for bridesmaids these days? Fleiss says navy blue, gray and lilac are fresh for spring.
"Everyone should feel happy and comfortable," she said. "It's a happy occasion and no one should be put upon or miserable. Choose styles that your friends will shine in and they'll be happy."
But what if your bridesmaid falls in love with her dress and can't bear to part with it?
Sorry, she has to give it back.
"We have occasional sales cheap Formal dresses," Fleiss said. "If someone falls passionately in love with a dress cheap grad dresses, we make a note of it and let them know when it becomes available for sale.
