WEYLAND, Mass. -- Diamond dreams are coming true for an elderly Wayland couple. The couple has been married for 65-years and the wife never had a diamond ring. But that all changed on Monday.
Betty and Everett Potter have been married for 65-years. But on Monday their love got some extra sparkle.
“That’s why were still together,” said Everett Potter. “She’s waiting till she got a ring.”
Everett, 97, got his bride a special surprise - one that was long overdue - a diamond ring.
He always knew he wanted his love to have one, but couldn’t afford it the first time they were engaged.
So with some help from their nursing home he headed to a local jewelry store to pick up the ring.
“From start to finish he knew what he wanted,” said a woman.
Then came time for the exchange, and Betty finally got her bling.
It was perhaps a little less nerve-wracking than the first proposal,
world sport, but Everett once again felt like the luckiest man on earth.
Everett got a new ring too, and in a special ceremony the couple renewed their vows - and once again pledged their love.
