Hughes can’t turn Yankees’ luck vs. Sox
Phil Hughes didn’t have his best stuff after a two-hour,Cheap Feidi Sunglasses, 17-minute rain delay and the Yankees’ frustrations boiled over in a 6-4 loss to the Red Sox at the new Yankee Stadium,Scarves Sale, the first meeting between the historic rivals across 161st Street. Joe Girardi was ejected for the first time this year,Colorado Rockies Hats sale, Derek Jeter argued a call and the Yankees accused first base coach Tim Bogar of stealing signs from catcher Jose Molina.
Posada’s tight hamstring prompts MRI
As Girardi said, the Yankees don’t need this right now. But it looks like Jorge Posada could be headed to the disabled list with a right hamstring injury. Girardi said Posada felt it “grab,Monster Energy Hats Sale,” and Posada was not available for comment after the game. It sounds like the Yankees will need to call up a catcher today. Bad timing, sure, but it does appear that Alex Rodriguez could rejoin the Yankees on Friday in Baltimore.
Please, please,Polo Hats, let them play a quicker game tonight. There have only been a handful of games where I’ve left the stadium after 3 a.m., but last night was one of them. Add it to the list with the 2008 All-Star Game, the final game at Yankee Stadium and Game 7 of the 2008 ALCS.
But as far as worst Yankees delay ever,Cheap Fox Racing Hats, I offer this doozy from 2007 in Detroit, when the Yankees waited out a four-hour, one-minute rain delay (first pitch: 11:06,Texas Rangers Hats!) and then proceeded to play an 11-inning game until Joe Torre finally summoned Sean Henn as the white flag. (Worst MLB delay ever – Game 5 of the 2008 World Series. You try waiting out a two-day storm at the Philadelphia airport.)

Also, a comment on a non-MLB.com story: This one from the New York Daily News,NFL Hats Sale, where fans were apparently not let back into the Stadium last night after leaving during the rain delay. I have mixed feelings on it, but I keep thinking back to the days when I would go to games with my friends and we’d wait out long rain delays.
There has never been a readmission policy at either of the New York stadiums, so once you leave the building, you’re out of luck — thanks for coming,New Era Jordan Hats, arrive home safely. Could an exception have been made? Yeah, I suppose. But we’d always wait for the official announcement on the scoreboard before leaving, and indeed, there was one last night — that baseball would begin at approximately 9:20 p.m. ET.
Especially if I was paying $800 to go see a game like some of the people in this story,Cartier Sunglasses, you can bet that I would be waiting for the ‘official’ word rather than listen to some guy in a ‘How May I Help You?’ button. Those employees may know where the Bank of America ATMs are, but they’re not briefed up to the minute on stadium operations.
