A TRIO of Archers of Jersey club members were bang on target in the Challenge de la Ville de Cherbourg in northern France final weekend.
The trio returned apt the Island with two victories and a second location, the wins effected along recurve bowmen Mike Coward and Mick Jezequel in the veteran and super veteran classes respectively.
Seventeen-year-old student Lucy O’Sullivan, who is still a junior, persisted her nice manner also by taking second spot in the senior ladies’ compound partition after recording a junior British disc FITA 18 score of 571 ex-600.
Compound archer O’Sullivan, who won the British Outdoor junior championship caption last summer, beat her before best indoor score by two points.
And her performance in Cherbourg, and at last February’s British Championships at Lilleshall, means she has now shot the required qualifying scores allowing her to compete in the European Indoor Championships, in March, in Torino,

Former Island cricketer Coward, who appeared from a field of 11 archers to win with a two-round score of 1,088, said: ‘It’s nice to have a degree of success in a new sport, yeah I’m chuffed I’ve been shooting around three years as,0 returning to the sport.
‘I tried it and enjoyed it a lot ahead I had children and now the children are getting older it was time to bring,0 it up anew.
‘I won in France by 40 points, I did no shoot that well and I know I can do better.
I’m targeting an Island Games now and if the Jersey’s 3 unions can sort out their inconsistencies I’d like to penetrate an Island crew represent archery in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.’
Coward now shoots 4 nights a week attach with 5 or six times a week at home during the summer months.
