Such optimism is in short supply these days for the Astros, who will be in a state of uneasy limbo until the Oswalt situation is resolved. The good thing,
NFL Hats, from the front office’s standpoint,
wholesale New York Yankees Hats, is that because Oswalt requested a trade, the public fallout from making one could be minimal.
The lyrics are mostly crude, and can’t be reprinted here, but I wonder how much pride there is anymore in playing for the Astros. This is certainly a low point in the history of their organization,
New York Yankees Hats, exemplified by the trade request of starter Roy Oswalt, a franchise icon. Oswalt’s contract runs out after 2011, and he does not know how much longer he will pitch. He wants to win now, and the Astros are buried in last place.
Bourn continued: “I know they want to be on a winning team; we all do. I do too. Nobody who plays any sport wants to be on a losing team. But you’ve got to stick through the rough edges. These are the rough times right now. You’ve just got to stick to them. There’s good times coming.”
But Manager Brad Mills has spoken with Oswalt about it, and the situation is bound to be uncomfortable for some. The Astros are short on talent, for sure, but they are trying, and their leaders have essentially said they do not believe they can compete.
“But I understand where he’s coming from,
Cheap Red Bull Hats,” Berkman repeated. “You get older, and the motivation to come to the ballpark gets less and less, especially if you’re not playing on a team you feel like has a chance.”
Lance Berkman, the thoughtful Astros first baseman who would also entertain the idea of a trade, put Oswalt’s awkward situation into words:
Late in the 1969 season,
Brand Hats, Jim Bouton was traded to the Houston Astros. As he chronicles in his timeless “Ball Four,” one of the rites of being an Astro was learning the verses to a song — “sung with great gusto … in the back of the bus” – called “It Makes a Fellow Proud to be an Astro.”
“I understand where he’s coming from. But we signed a contract here, they made a long-term commitment to us, and now that things are bad – you know what I’m saying? And I don’t think Roy has necessarily come out and demanded to be traded. I think his whole point is, if there’s some interest from other teams, I would be willing to do something. So maybe it’s semantics. But I still feel like as long as Roy’s here, he’s going to give us everything he’s got. I don’t think he’s jumping ship or anything.
Oswalt, 32, said he did not talk with teammates about his decision to ask for a trade,
Cehap Gucci Hats, figuring that most of them are veterans who understand he will always give full effort on the mound.

“It’s almost a win/win for the club,
Snapback Hats,” said Jim Deshaies,
cheap Metal Mulisha Hats, the former Astros pitcher and longtime broadcaster for the club. “If you keep him and he pitches well, you have a chance to win more games. And if you trade him, you get presumably good prospects in return, and you don’t take that P.R. hit for trading a franchise icon because he came out and said, ‘I want to be traded.’ The club says, ‘We know people love him, he’s done great things for us,
Players Authentic Hats, been a hero for us, but we accommodated his desire to be traded.’ ”
“I know they’re frustrated with the way things are going,” said center fielder Michael Bourn,
Kingdom power organizat, one of the few core Astros in his prime,
Wholesale Baseball Hats, referring to Oswalt and Berkman. “But I just hope that they don’t give up on us, because we’re not going to give up on them. I never give up on whoever’s on the mound or whoever’s out there. I’m just going to always have their back, whether I’m here for one year or 10 years.”
“They understand the situation,” he said,
Red Bull Hats, “so I assume it’s no big deal in here.”
