Betty Fox « Team Burnis!
Betty Fox Betty Fox has passed away. It’s definitely sad news. I had the chance to meet her and Rolly briefly a few years ago at a conference. They very patiently let me take them through a poster that detailed mbt m.walk shoes some of the work I’d been doing. Meanwhile I was struggling to NOT say something like “Terry is a huge part of why I’m here and I think the foundation you guys built is amazing!”. The day I started at the BC Cancer Agency I worked out that I was almost exactly the same age Terry had been when he died. Considering how much good he accomplished in his 22 years really made me take measure of myself. On more than one occassion, the thought of a kid with one leg running a marathon a day while trying to cross Canada gave me the motivation I needed to stay at my desk or in the lab until the small hours of the morning. Last year I had the opportunity to actually do a bit of work with the Terry Fox Research Institute. The chance to even briefly be associated with them… well, it means a lot to me. From the initial ‘Marathon of Hope’ to today, mbt shoes on sale Terry’s efforts and the work of the Fox family have helped to raise over a half BILLION dollars for cancer research. Some of the scientists I have worked with for nearly a decade now have been directly able to bring forward really cool and useful cancer research due to TFRI funding. That includes Cathie. In the last 30 years, the impact of Betty and the rest of the Fox family on cancer research in this country is astounding. With heavy hearts, we offer our condolences and our profound thanks for what Betty did for this country and our work. * * * Cathie and her lab with Darrell Fox (during a dunk tank fundraiser last year): (click to enlarge) My limited edition Terry Fox replica Adidas Orion shoes (a prized possession worn the day I bought Nike Running: Nike Dunk Low Supreme them, the day of my thesis defense, and the day of the 30th anniversary Marathon of Hope celebration): (click to enlarge) Leave a Comment so far Leave a comment
