Everyone loves a good bargain, which is why we were delighted to be invited along to view the new BigOffers Discount Warehouse opening in Edinburgh’s Newbridge on Thursday 28th April.
The members-only store will specialise in selling branded goods to the public at unbelievably cheap trade prices. There will be a huge range of products on offer – including designer clothing, electrical appliances, luggage,Tigi, household items and children’s toys – at crazy prices that have to be seen to be believed.
The store is the brainchild of online Dragon’s Den star Shaf Rasul and retail guru Duncan Sutherland, formerly the retail director of Matalan. The two are old friends,hair products, and came up with the concept for the business over a curry. With the recession in full swing, they felt that consumers wanted more for their money, and so wanted to offer a discount shopping experience that was completely unlike anything else.
Looking around the store, we were privy to many of the amazing deals on offer.  Men’s designer suits have been discounted to £8.53 (from £150); shoes can be bought for as little as £4; sunglasses are available for 83p (down from £30); and iPod Nano MP3 players can be had for just £20.16. Equally as exciting is the fact that the stock is constantly being refreshed, so you never know what bargains might crop up on a day-to-day basis.
Shaf said: “We sell branded goods for less than trade price. Our average discount is probably 80% – so effectively you’re buying at the same price as a wholesaler, a shop, or a distributor would.”
“The range of goods we offer is heavily branded,hair straighteners uk, so you can be sure the quality is there,” added Duncan. “We’ve spent a lot of time making sure that the range is desirable – as well as standard items that will be available at all times, there will be a number of special ‘big offers’ that will be rolled out on top of those.
