Working out is always better when you have someone to work out with. Often times, we lack the motivation to stick to a regimen of exercise for too long. No other time of year do you see more examples of this than around Christmas time. Christmas often yields the biggest number of people working out due to New Years resolutions that were made to "lose weight" or "eat healthier". The fact of the matter is that when you are motivated and have a goal in mind (not to mention a friend to work out with), you'll find that working out suddenly isn't such a big deal.
We may think our wants equal our needs. In other words, that we just have to have a certain pair of shoes or gadget to be happy, successful, etc. While this can seem simple when we're talking about basic needs like shelter and food, it can get murky when we're looking at other items. There seems to be an endless amount of reasons as to why people don't work out or why they may have gained those few extra pounds. For example, some people claim that they are "too tired" or that they have to take their kids to school or that gym memberships are too expensive. The truth is you don't really need a gym in order to get yourself into shape. Rather, as long as you have a decent pair of running shoes, you're pretty much set to go! If you are innovative enough, you can actually come up with creative ways to shed those unwanted pounds and feel better about yourself.

Another great way to enjoy working out is to join a fitness class. For example, I once tried out some of the aerobics classes at my father's gym when I was visiting my parents in New York, and I had a blast. There I was, thrown into this class of maybe twenty other adults who were all pumped and excited about working out, and it was a great experience. If you haven't already tried a fitness class, it may be something worth looking in to. If you're trying to save money, there are also plenty of groups or individuals who work out on a regular basis. You can always try your hand at putting an ad on the Internet or searching for local groups in the area who are getting together.
It starts with your diet. When talking about working out, you can't mention exercise without saying something about your diet. Too many times, people will exercise begrudgingly- thinking that they have to exercise because they want to be able to eat those half dozen doughnuts later on after dinner. This is the wrong way to think, and it will only be counterproductive in your weight loss efforts. The reason why it is good to work out with a friend is because it helps to motivate you as well as to make the experience of working out more enjoyable. As a workout partner, you can push the other person and vice versa to reach their full potential. Believe it or not, many people hire personal trainers for this same reason- not because they necessarily need to be instructed on how to use the various machines or how to do various exercises- but because they need someone there who is motivated to work out with them and/or help them work out.
