The word painting literally means the practice of applying color to a surface such as canvas, paper, wood, glass, lacquer or concrete. But when used in an artistic sense then painting means the use of this activity in combination with drawing, composition and other aesthetic considerations in order to manifest the expressive and conceptual intention of the practitioner. This is what Ritu - Sama is all about. Ritu - Sama is a crossover project displaying a synergy between the artist and a designer. The artist is Sultana Hasan, and the designer Puneet Nanda of the Satya Paul fame. Using their exquisite creations, artist Sultana Hasan has created dramatic portraits with collages of Satya Paul prints along with their designer Puneet. To add to the canvas to this interesting collaboration, classical pianist Anil Srinivasan displayed his skill at the piano. The exhibition is being held in the foyer of the Emporio Mall, Vasant Kunj. The art collection got off to a start on April 23 with the dynamic young pianist Anil Srinivasan's nimble fingers working magic on the piano. His work brought forth a fusion of classical Carnatic and western pieces that evoke the moods of the seasons. Anil Srinivasan is trained in both India and the United States. In Ritu - Sama, Anil played four different ragas to depict the four seasons, including Basant, Vasanthi and Amritavarshini, interspersed with equivalent compositions from across the world. His music in the evening had a tremendous impact on the audience that was left asking for more.
