Reminiscing about parading my new gear on the first day back to school left me hankering for my satchel,
Tods outlet, lace-ups and blazer again. True,
nike dunk, a tableau of your 15-year-old self 20 years or so on is beyond tragic - "demented overgrown schoolgirl" is one of the less vitriolic compliments - but these simple, functional pieces, especially the accessories, served me well and are the hardy foundations lacking in my wardrobe now. Handy,
cheap sennheiser headphones, then, that designers are tapping the traditional uniform, so sensible schoolyard staples abound.

Sheer nostalgia induced a trip to past uniform outfitters first. While those sturdy, lace-up shoes with yellow-stitching from Dr Martens donned in youth can stay put, I was taken by its stacked-heel burgundy tassel loafer, which I mentally styled with some slim ankle trousers. Onwards to
Clarks, neglected in recent years in favour of trendier shoe shops, but now finding its way thanks to some strong showings (its leopard-print desert boots are a hit with the fash pack). As a flats girl,
monster headphone -, I luxuriated in its vast selection of stylish brogues.
Scouting in less mined fields, British heritage brand Chapman's bespoke tote has the utilitarian air of the school bag about it. It's for men,
bose headphones -, but who cares if it looks this good.
The coolest blackboard-ready specs come courtesy of Claire Goldsmith's Legacy collection. The great-granddaughter of Oliver Goldsmith, of sunglasses fame, Goldsmith's logo-free amber tortoiseshell frames are bookishly sweet. Here's to teen spirit.
