The inspiration for Barlow ranges from Marshmallow Peeps to Saved by the Bell to the movie Tron. Only a couple of seasons old, Barlow is designed by Molly Girard Coonan, the granddaughter of iconic textile designer Alexander Girard. A protégé of Cynthia Vincent,
Streetwalker Red-Blooded – Fashionista Fashion, Coonan possesses the bloodlines and the training to be a very talented designer. She also just seems really cool.
Her clothes are ######y yet tomboyish, girly but with an edge. For Fall ’10, we are loving the brown leather jacket and skirt, the oversized jackets, velvet pants and a menswear shirt with cut-outs. For Holiday ’10,
Street Style Sam Wears Whatever is on the Top of His Closet, we are really into an army green cargo vest, the not-too-frilly party dresses,
27, and geometric paneling.
“I’m looking forward to this new era of fashion where people are dressing for fun,
red bull hats, not taking themselves too seriously,” Coonan says of her line. Barlow is fashion with a sense of humor, originality, wearability, and backed with the talent to pull it off. We have a hunch you’ll be seeing cool girls all over wearing these clothes in no time (if they aren’t already).
