Derek Jeter Outlasts Them All

I’m so tired hearing about Jeter. Jeter’s runs,Wholesale Red Bull Hats, HR’s,Monster Energy Hats, RBIs, walks etc are directly comparable to Julio Lugo’s as of today. Add that Lugo has 3 less errors and you could hire three Lugo’s for the price of a Jeter. Jeter is overpaid, overexposed and a slap singles hitter. Remember Wade Boggs?
Nevin doesn’t have to apologize for his career. He carved out a 12-year career with seven teams,Monster Energy Hats wholesale, hit a bunch of homers for a while, and finally reached the postseason with the Twins last fall in the last game he ever played.
The second, and more important myth to the Jeter mystique, is his reputation as a team leader. Jeter doesn’t wear that C on his chest for nothing, or so you would think. But consider the history. Jeter is almost constantly at odds with someone on the team,New Era MLB Hats, most notably with A-Rod, who has never felt completely comfortable with the Yankees. Doesn’t the captain have some responsibility for making the greatest hitter of the current age feel at home in the clubhouse? If A-Rod bolts the pinstripes at the end of this season, will Jeter accept some responsibility?

First, there is the question of his play at shortstop. Jeter’s fielding appears to be more glitz than glove. There’s nothing new about that observation. As the Times pointed out recently, Jeter’s range factor last season (when he received his third Gold Glove) was a measly 4.14, 25th among the 30 regular shortstops in the majors. So why does Jeter get the reputation for being a great fielder as ground ball after ground ball gets past him? Maybe it’s because he has a gift for the dramatic play — jumping into the stands, running halfway across the field to catch a pop-up, etc. He looks great on a highlight reel, but all the added opponent hits don’t help his team.
Back with more later from Safeco Field. Sometime this weekend, I’ll make the case for Safeco as the best ballpark in the majors.

The amount of Jeter haters out there amaze me. The man is a master at this thing called baseball. Why do we need to tear him down? So he doesn’t like ARod. Do we ever see that? No, because he is being the polite,Cheap Baltimore Orioles Hats, respectful man his parents raised him to be. He doesn’t wear a C on his chest either. He is calm and leads by example. You don’t see him “crying” about a call made by the ump that goes against him(as we often do in Red Sox nation). He just goes out and does what he loves to do every single day and he’s consistent.

His autograph was scrawled in handwriting that looked like a 5-year-olds, and he signed his name “Adam ‘Happy‘ Sandler”. I would have preferred “Adam ‘Cajun Man’ Sandler,Washington Nationals Hats,” but it was still pretty funny. Wonder if Nevin held onto it.
