Generally this is not agood idea. Shortening a jacket can throw off the whole balance of the outfit. If you are in between sizes (40R and 40S) it may be doable. With the alteration cos yuo will be paying $1000+. That is too much for ill fitting suit (even Oxxford).I suggest you talk to a good tailor (if you can somehow bring the suit without firm commitment to buy would be good)
