Domain-name services (DNS) provider UltraDNS was targeted with a denial-of-service attack two days prior to Christmas, leaving some last-minute consumers reportedly unable to link to significant merchants these as Amazon and Wal-Mart for a brief time period.
Close to four:forty five pm PT, UltraDNS observed "an abnormal spike in queries," which it discovered as a denial-of-service (DoS) attack, Allen Goldberg,Microsoft Office 2007 Key, vice president of company communications at Neustar -- UltraDNS's father or mother organization -- said in a statement. The attack only affected Internet surfers from the Northern California place and lasted lower than an hour, the organization stated.
"We analyzed the designs and ended up ready to position mitigation measures in area within minutes of identifying the attack," Neustar explained inside the statement sent to SecurityFocus. "We had anything beneath control effectively underneath an hour."
