Lionel Messi – Adidas Sponsorship & Messi Boots - Sophiemay1997
It’s no surprise that Lionel Messi, FIFA 2009 Player of the Year and arguably the best player in the world,Nike Mercurial Mens Dress Shoes, has taken to the field in a succession of top-class football boots. Messi has become synonymous with Adidas, featuring at the forefront of the manufacturer's advertising campaigns. However, he didn’t start his career with the German company – he started out with their arch rivals.
The Lionel Messi Nike Partnership
Lionel Messi signed with Nike at the age of 14, his move to Barcelona from Newell's Old Boys having brought him to the attention of both the press and potential sponsors. Messi’s Barcelona debut came in the 2004–05 season; at the same time, Ronaldo (Brazilian Ronaldo, not Cristiano) was showcasing the new Nike Mercurial Vapor II football boot. Messi made the headlines when he became the youngest footballer to play in La Liga, a record he achieved wearing Nike Mercurial Vapors.
The Lionel Messi Adidas Boots Deal
In 2005, Messi rejected a deal to extend his contract with Nike. Adidas certainly make some great boots, perhaps a temptation for Messi to make the change. Cynics may argue, however, that the £400,ctr 360,000 yearly endorsement deal offered by Adidas looked a little better than the £120,000-a-year being offered by Nike. Whatever his reasons, Lionel Messi signed a five-year contract with Adidas in February 2006. The top-dogs at Nike were not happy, and a protracted legal battle ensued which Nike eventually lost.
While Nike and Cristiano Ronaldo continued to work hand-in-hand,mercurial talaria fg, Messi joined the likes of David Beckham and Michael Ballack in the Adidas showroom. Beckham was already the poster boy for Adidas Predator boots, the player complimenting the boots in terms of ball swerve and free-kick potential. Messi had a distinctly different style, one which Adidas would partner with a particular line of soccer shoes.
Adidas & Messi Tunit Football Boots
Like the Nike Mercurials worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, the Adidas Tunit line has been developed for quick players. Lightweight but relatively strong, these are the boots that helped Lionel Messi on his way to an Olympic gold medal, the Ballon d'Or and the 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year award.
Messi has worn a few different Tunit models, in plenty of different colour schemes, since his Adidas deal began. In 2007, Messi donned the Adidas F50 Titan Tunits, while the customised Messi Adidas F50i Tunit was developed for the player in 2009. However, despite F50 advertising being spearheaded by the Argentine, Messi had long favoured the Adidas F30 range, mercurial vapor superfly ii fg 9wK9Scarpe Calcio Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly I, mainly due to the model’s fixed-sole studs (F50 Tunits have interchangeable studs). Adidas helped Messi out by customising the boots to the player’s specific needs; these boots were not available to the public.
Lionel Messi F50 AdiZero World Cup Boots
When the World Cup comes into view, football boot manufacturers fight it out in a frenzied period of new releases – South Africa 2010 was certainly no exception. Lionel Messi was the principal pin-up boy for the new Adidas World Cup model, the F50 adiZero. Released in May 2010, these are the boots Messi wore in South Africa.

According to Adidas, “The revolutionary new boot weighs an astonishing 165 grams and features industry-leading technologies, making it the lightest and fastest Adidas football boot ever made”. In the same press release, mercurial vapor superfly 3zCwComment fabrique t-on les chaussures de Foot, Messi is quoted as saying “I am amazed at how light the new F50 is; I can barely feel them on my feet”.
Messi Soccer Shoes – Adidas' Lightest Ever Football Boot
The F50 adiZero was also worn in South Africa by the likes of David Villa, Salomon Kalou, mercurial vapor v fg, Lukas Podolski and Jermain Defoe. The current trend for super-lightweight boots has raised concerns about the foot protection that these boots offer. Adidas will be pleased that none of their players suffered any kind of foot damage, particularly the dreaded metatarsal injury, during the 2010 World Cup.
