Like Hamlet, York seems to be on a search for his place in the world and the universe. His existential questionings add a depth to the story of his life as an actor, and we sense that some of his questions, asked by humans since antiquity, must remain unanswered: Why are we on this planet? Why is there so much suffering despite the human capabilities for reason and love? York's book doesn't answer these questions, but he certainly puts these questions around the table and invites his readers to join him in pondering the answers
