Default Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2007 Frequently Asked Qu

First off, thanks to everyone who has tested, installed, and/or provided feedback on the February Cumulative Update (CU) – your insight and comments are incredibly valuable to us as we continue to improve and refine the Outlook product!
In this post, we wanted to formally address some of the top questions, comments, and concerns regarding the recent release of the February CU. As always, please keep your comments coming.
What is the February CU?
An important distinction to make up front is that the February CU represents a collection of various hotfixes all aimed at addressing various performance-related issues in Outlook 2007. This collection of hotfixes will be released both through this CU and in the forthcoming Office 2007 Service Pack 2 release. We want to be as clear as possible – the fixes which are being released through this CU will be released AGAIN in the future through Office 2007 Service Pack 2. So, what should you do? Read on:
Should I install the February CU?
Outlook users (individuals or entire organizations) should consider installing the February CU if they have been experiencing serious issues around Outlook performance with respect to large data files (large mailboxes or Outlook data files (.PST)), switching between large folders, calendar reliability, or general issues with Outlook responsiveness. If you or your organization has found their usage or deployment of Outlook has been stalled or halted completely,Microsoft Office Home And Student 2010, we encourage you to take a look at installing the February CU to get unblocked immediately.
Should I wait for Office 2007 Service Pack 2?
Again, Outlook users should consider installing the February CU if they are experiencing serious issues which are causing impact to their personal or organizational productivity. However, microsoft Office 2010 License, the Outlook team certainly understands that with the deployment of any hotfix, patch, update or service pack there is a significant amount of testing that must take place for organizations of any size. To that point, if your organization is having a positive experience with Outlook 2007 and has not identified performance-related issues that need immediate resolution waiting for Microsoft to release Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (late Spring 2009) is another option you can consider. Office 2007 Service Pack 2 will be released with updates for all the Office Client applications and will be available through a variety of channels, including Microsoft Update.
Why did the Outlook team use an e-mail registration process? Why didn’t you just deliver this update through Microsoft (Windows) Update? And why does the text in the email say that this update has not been tested?
Due to the nature of this release – a Cumulative Update that is a collection of hotfixes – the Outlook team and Microsoft released it through our standard CU update process. This mechanism allows us to provide the CU in as timely and efficient a manner as possible to our customers. If we had waited to release these fixes through some other mechanism, it would have taken much longer for us to get them to our customers.
Regarding the text you see when you get the download e-mail: rest assured that the Outlook team has fully tested this release. We stand behind it as a product team and as a company,Purchase Windows 7, from development to testing, all the way through to support for any size customer. This is a fully endorsed product from Microsoft that you should feel confident about installing.
What are the Outlook team’s plans to support the February CU in the long term?
As stated above, Microsoft and the Outlook team specifically will be fully supporting the work done in the February CU moving forward. This should be thought of as on par with other updates and service packs released by Microsoft in terms of the documentation, support, and assistance provided by Microsoft to customers who install and use the February CU.
I’m getting a really slow experience after I installed the February CU – I had to wait 15/30/60 minutes for Outlook to boot up the first time – what’s going on here?
We have heard reports from various customers describing first-boot wait times ranging from 5 minutes to over one hour upon successful installation of the February CU. The reason for these wait times has to do with Outlook rebuilding your Outlook data files (.PST) files as a result of newly applied fixes. So, the more data you have in Outlook data files (.PST) files, the longer it will take Outlook to rebuild them before your first Outlook session can begin, after installing the February CU. This rebuilding process does not change any of your data.
We hope this list of responses to your most commonly asked questions helps clear up any confusion regarding the recent release of the February CU. We are tremendously excited to see this work make it into the hands of our customers,Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2007, and have heard a lot of great feedback so far. Install it today and let us know how it works for you,Purchase Windows 7!
