Austin Nelson throws five touchdowns to lead Heritage over Loudoun Valley
On the following play, he threw his fifth touchdown pass of the game, hitting tight end Ryan Taylor down the middle for a 19-yard touchdown that lifted host Heritage to a 44-42 victory over Loudoun Valley in a Virginia AA Dulles ugg classic online District game in Leesburg on Friday night.Nelson finished 17 of 28 for 410 yards, helped by the return of Taylor and wide receiver Drew Burkhard to the lineup after being sidelined by shoulder injuries.“I felt confident because we were moving the ball, I wasn’t freaking out,” said Nelson, a third-year starter who had six 300-yard games last season and is the region’s leading passer this season. “You’ve got to be confident, especially at quarterback. You can’t let things get you down.”Perhaps that is why Nelson remained upbeat even after Heritage had blown a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.Loudoun Valley (1-4, 0-3), which lost its fourth in a row, had taken a 42-38 lead on Neill Frazier’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Wesley Robinson with 3½ minutes left.Heritage has not enjoyed much success north face womens jackets recently, winning a total of just three games the past two seasons. But with late rallies to beat Potomac Falls and Park View earlier this season, the Pride (5-1, 4-0) has thoughts of earning its first-ever playoff berth, a goal that was helped considerably by the ensuing drive.Nelson scrambled for nine yards and a 15-yard face mask penalty against Loudoun Valley also helped. Then Nelson hit Burkhard for 32 yards down the middle. Nelson kept the ball on a bootleg two plays later, holding ugg discount the ball high in the air as he crossed the goal line. The penalty pushed Heritage back 15 yards but only delayed its go-ahead score.“We keep telling our kids we can’t play Arena Football and win too many more games,” Heritage Coach Steve Williams said. “Every game is a shootout. But if you’ve got a gunslinger on your side, it’s pretty nice.”
