I used to be up at 4 am this early morning,Windows 7 Key, primarily due to the fact The Nikki (that;s my cat) decided which was the opportune time to jump straight on my head. After my heart stopped pounding from being scared out of my mind,Office 2010 Home And Stude/nt Key, I used to be wide awake and started to think about work and the past few weeks. I can;t lie and tell you it hasn;t been stressful. We have been under deadlines, trying to solve some tough challenges and I have been burning the midnight oil at the MVP Summit the past few nights :-) I don;t think this is very different from any other company,Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, but sometimes you can get caught up in the stress and forget why you do what you do. I lost site of the forest and was only looking at the trees. Then I had the epiphany. You know how that goes at four am right? So at the risk of sounding like Jerry McGuire (I promise I won;t write a whole dissertation) I figured out why I keep doing what I do and it is mostly thanks to being able to attend the MVP event and meet all these great people (those that do and do not work at Microsoft). The MVP Summit designed me realize a few things: 1. I will dance to Macarena or virtually any other cheesy DJ music without being coerced by peer pressure :-) 2. 11 pm on a school night is way to late for me to stay out 3. Microsoft is a place I hope to work at for a long time four. and...I love being a technical recruiter for this company,Office Home And Business 2010! I say all this mainly because the MVP event gave me a window into some of the really neat stuff we are developing product wise. I get this sometimes when working with client teams,Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Plus, but when you are surrounded by it you can sometimes get desensitized and forget that we build great products that make a difference in the way people live their lives. To see how the MVPs were responding to their first look at different versions of our product really bolstered me. And that;s the other thing. These MVPs are awesome. They are some of the most passionate technical people that I have met in a long time. Not everyone is interested in a job at Microsoft, but they were still willing to talk and tell us about their experiences which gave me a first hand insight into what it is like to become a programmer in other companies. It was refreshing. Then by meeting people that were interested in positions and meeting people that I hired into Microsoft, I was reinvigorated about my role as a recruiter. I am making a difference by helping to get the best people to the right jobs at Microsoft. But it goes beyond this; I also have the opportunity to improve our customer;s experience by hiring folks that are passionate about and want to improve people;s lives through software. It;s a pretty awesome feeling. Okay – so there it is – I a little bit of my soul. I hope that everyone has an opportunity to feel re-energized like this at some point in their careers. I am glad it happened to me when it did! zoë
