THAT SILVER SHILLING

THERE was once a shilling, which came forth through the mint
springing and yelling, "Hurrah! now I am heading out into the wide
world. " And truly it did fall out into the wide earth. The children held
it with warm hands, the miser using a cold and convulsive grab, and
the old persons turned it about, goodness knows the quantity of times, while the young people soon allowed it to roll faraway from them. The
shilling was made from silver, it contained not much copper, and
