Prom Dream Coming True for Teen Moms
When lots of people have given up on you, sometimes it makes it easier to give up on yourself, but at the Catherine Ferguson Academy in Detroit, there's a building full of young ladies battling to beat the odds.
"We change lives and we give girls the place where they can be their best them," said Principal Asenath Andrews.
"Everything that society places on you and labels you, they are fighting back, and they've made a firm decision to still graduate
Short prom dresses," said stylist Charise Doe.
"For the last nine years, every single girl who's graduated from here has been accepted to a two or four year college before she leaves," Andrews said.
And everyone who walks their halls is pregnant or parenting.
90-percent of teen moms across this country drop out of high school and many of them never go back
Halter dresses, but these mothers want more for themselves and for their children.
"Anyone who's outside the norm, people have different feelings about, and this is not about glorifying teen pregnancy, but this is about breaking the cycle," said Andrews.
"I want my son to see me being positive in life," said teen mom Danikia Harper.
"I believe that everybody out here deserves a second chance
Sweet 16 dresses," said teen mom Jasmine Williams.
"Thank goodness there's a place for girls to not end up thrown away
Pink dresses," Andrews said.
"Maybe they did it sooner than they should've done it, but anybody can fall. It's up to us to help them get back up," said Alica Leach from Anna J. Collection.
Because of the choices they've made, being a teenager is whole lot harder than it has to be.
However, Alicia Leach of Anna J. Collection also believes that although the priority of students is parenting

Alicia is determined to make it happen. She's teamed up with generous people from all over metro Detroit, who have given so much to make sure there are enough dresses

"It's important for every woman to have some time when she's not somebody's mother, she's not somebody's wife

"Somebody needs to support the girls, to let them know, they're not forgotten," Doe said.
"(Makes) me feel real special on the inside because I got people that care for me, even if they don't know me," Harper said. "I want to say thank you."
"Now I get to have the best time of my life, and I will have something to remember," Williams said.
For other young girls out there, they want you to remember this.
"Wait to have (kids)
Strapless dresses, and it's kind of hard, but if you do have kids, now just be strong about it. Don't give up and continue with your life because you can do it," Harper said.

Bridge of Lubbock still seeking prom clothing
The Bridge of Lubbock is collecting slighted used
prom dresses, accessories, and shoes through Friday.
Items will be distributed to young women of limited means attending the prom.
