"I was once in a hostel in Shanghai where there were 1,000 cushions on the bed, but no small stool to sit on in the bathroom to dry one's feet - which is why I chose to furnish the Dubai Hotel and residences in a style I have forever loved for a home." And it's an aesthetic, he reveals, was honed at a youth age. "It was a beautiful basic, circumscribed surroundings that I grew up in, so I had adequate coverage to watch entities I didn't favor," the designer tells The New Review.
