Default Grin and bear it: Toronto highways, subway closed this weekend

Beginning of Story Content Road closures, festivals, and subway maintenance are all expected to test the patience of Toronto commuters over the weekend.Traffic chaos is expected this weekend as road closures and subway maintenance hinder commuters. The Canadian PressThe Don Valley Parkway, a major north-south artery, will be closed for the weekend from 2 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday morning. That extends in both directions from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway. A section of Highway 401 will also be under construction straighteners cheap this weekend. The westbound collector lanes of the 401 from Highway 400 to Highway 409 will be reduced to one lane from Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday. And it appears Toronto Transit, dubbed as the "better way," may not be able to fulfill that promise over the weekend, either. The Yonge subway line from Eglinton to Bloor stations will be closed for new track installation Saturday and Sunday. The TTC said all trains on the Yonge Subway will turn back north at Eglinton Station and south at Bloor-Yonge Station. Accessible buses will stop at all stations from Bloor-Yonge to Eglinton GHDÂ*RedÂ*lustÂ* during the closure. Buses will board on the street at all stations, except at Eglinton station where buses will enter the station. Regular subway service resumes for the start of service Monday. Meanwhile, runners, walkers, and bladers will hit the streets Sunday as the annual Terry Fox run is set for various locations around the city. There are also two festivals -- The Ukrainian festival in Bloor west village from Friday evening until Sunday evening, and the Polish festival along Roncesvalles Avenue. Mayor Rob Ford, who has been vocal about events taking over the streets, vowed to look into the situation but still defended the importance of these events. "I agree with you that they shouldn't be closing it down all at one time," he said on a Toronto radio station earlier this week. "I will have to know all the reasons why because every single weekend ghd straightners there is a certain event; there is something going on. I think that is good for the city. Sometimes if we have these charity events and you fundraise money you bring revenue into the city." Accessibility Links
