Unlike the similar Dell Inspiron Mini ten netbook announced in February,
Office Enterprise Key, which starts at $350, or Dell's before Mini 12 design, the Mini 10v employs the one.6Ghz Atom N270 processor typically located on netbooks. Together with the Mini 10 (pictured under, at right) and Mini 12, Dell had as an alternative turned to Intel's Z5xx Atom CPUs ("Silverthorne").
Because the Z5xx Atoms are smaller sized, use a lot less electrical power, and mate with the integrated chipset that saves much more electrical power, they run cooler and previous longer on batteries, says Dell. Moreover,
Window 7, the N270 lacks the Z5xx-series' 720P Hd video clip ability. As a result, the Mini 10v also lacks the Mini 10's integrated HDMI (higher definition multimedia interface) port and optional, not-yet-shipping Hd tuner. Dell also ideas to add a 2GB RAM selection for the Mini ten, although not the 10v.
Although the screen will be the identical dimension,
Office Standard 2010 Sale, the Mini 10v isn't an edge-to-edge exhibit much like the Mini ten, and its resolution tops out at 1024 x 576 pixels as an alternative to the Mini 10's optional 720P display, which supports 1366 x 768 resolution. Otherwise the two netbooks are virtually identical.
The Mini 10v delivers 1GB of RAM, a 10/100 Ethernet port, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a memory card reader, 3 USB ports, and audio I/O. The netbook is presented with either Ubuntu Linux 8.04 or Windows XP Property, put in on 120GB or 160GB SATA difficult disk drives.
