Default ######## Oakley Baby Needs a New Pair of Shoes - What

Doctors now know that the best pair of shoes for your baby are actually no shoes at all. If you've been eyeing all of those cute miniature sneakers and baby booties, this may not be the news you want to hear. In days gone by, white leather baby booties were bought at the first sign of baby standing on his or her own two feet. It was believed that the shoes would help baby learn to walk. But now we know that when baby walks barefoot, it helps to develop arches and make ankles stronger. Some shoes even will alter your baby's natural gait. Occasionally ######## Oakley, though, there will be situations when wearing shoes makes sense for safety and appearance. Baby will need shoes for walking outside or for dress up times too. When it's time to chose a shoe for your baby, you'll want to choose a pair that's as close as possible to bare feet. Here's what you should look for:
1. Soles that are flexible. Thin, flexible soles are the best. Sneakers are generally flexible but the thickness of the soles may interfere with the natural motion of your baby's foot and may cause more frequent falls. Shoes designed specifically for first walkers are even more flexible and have thinner soles as well, therefore asics gel kayano, falls will be less likely.
2. Low Cut Ankles. Resist the temptation to buy high top shoes for baby, even if grandma swears by them. High top shoes will interfere with ankle movement and development of ankle strength. High tops should never be used to help steady a first time walker.
3. Flexible and Breathable Uppers. Cloth, leather, or canvas will allow babies foot to have maximum freedom of movement. Babies foot needs air to stay healthy too. Imitation leather or plastic is often stiff and will cause babies foot to sweat. If you find that your baby needs to wear snow or rain boots, only use them as necessary. Baby should not wear rain boots or snow boots for prolonged periods of time.
4. Non-skid, flat bottoms. For safety reasons, your baby's shoes should not be slippery on the bottoms. If you choose shoes with a leather bottomed shoes, make sure that they are scored or textured in some way to prevent slips and falls. To create more traction on a pair of shoes, you can use sandpaper or adhesive tape on the shoe bottoms.
5. Supportive, firm counters. The part of the shoe behind the heel should be firm with padding at the top. A smooth seam will ensure that baby's feet are comfortable too.
6. Good fit with room to move. Shoes that are a little too big are better than having shoes that are too small when it comes to baby. Be sure to have your baby's feet measured by a professional and if baby will often wear thick socks, make sure that the shoes are tried on with the thick socks on. Shoes should be checked when baby is standing and walking. The heel should not flop up and down as baby walks. You should try
to mash down with your thumb between the tip of the toe of the shoe. A thumb's width is just right. You should also be able to insert your pinky between your baby's heel and the back of the shoe. Be sure to check the fit of your baby's shoes often, as he or she may go through frequent growth spurts. It is not uncommon for a baby to outgrow a pair of shoes in as little as six week's time. For this reason, durability is not usually a factor. Your baby will likely grow out of his or her shoes before there's time to wear them out.
7. Avoid irregular shapes. Shoes with pointy-toes and odd shapes can create problems with baby's toes as he or she grows. Wide, roomy shoes are best.
8. Avoid used or hand-me-down shoes. Resist the temptation to save money by buying used or taking hand-me-down shoes from friends. Shoes will often mold to the wearer's foot and will not be an optimal fit for your own baby once this has happened.
Most people can begin wearing new orthotics without discomfort right from the start. However, there are a small amount of people who require a break-in period to get the feet used to standing on the inserts all day. This article discusses this break-in process ######## cheap sunglasses, and how one can get the most out of their new orthotics in as little time as possible. When new orthotics are uncomfortable to wear, it can be incredibly frustrating. Many people expect instant relief of foot discomfort, and this is understandable given the nature of foot pain and the costs sometimes incurred to get orthotics in the first place. Orthotics should not cause discomfort. One has to assume they were properly casted for in the first place, and the proper prescription was used to make additional modifications to the basic design based on the physician's examination of the foot structure.
One also has to assume the lab correctly fabricated the insert to the proper specifications. To instantly assume that either one of these steps were done incorrectly does not help what really must be done: a break-in period performed with patience and persistence. The frequency of improper casting, prescription writing, or manufacture of orthotics is usually quite low. These factors should only realistically be considered after all other measures have failed to provide lasting comfort. The break-in period is a short span of time in which the foot becomes accustomed to the control that the orthotic is providing. In essence, a proper orthotic will provide gentle but firm support of the foot structures. This includes support of all the muscles and ligaments which have become lax during a lifetime of abnormal support. The orthotic will force these structures to realign properly. For some, this can cause a brief irritation of the lax tissue, or it can force some muscles to function properly for the first time.
