A brave bride showed the ultimate faith in her future husband – by allowing him to organise their entire wedding.
And joker Colin Phillips certainly put fiancee Sally’s nerves to the test by choosing a Willy Wonka theme for their big day.
The pair were taking part in BBC3 TV show ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ where couples are given £12,000 to organise a wedding in three weeks with one strict rule – the groom does everything.
Now the couple, who live on Dean Lane, Failsworth, are anxiously waiting to see the results when the programme airs on Tuesday,
ghd, August 31 at 9pm.
Sally, 24 said: "I don’t think I’m going to able to watch it. I still don’t know what it was like behind the scenes. It will be interesting to see how he made it all happen."
Nursery nurse Colin, 25 admits he found the task more demanding than he had expected.
He said: "It was the most stressful experience of my life. You don't realise all the things that it entails – it was a lot more work than I expected. I’ve never been any good at organising things like that anyway. I couldn’t handle it."
His many tasks included organising the stag and hen nights, choosing Sally’s wedding dress and drawing up a seating plan.
And with Colin’s mischievous nature getting the better of him more often than not – the results are hilarious.
"I chose the Willy Wonka theme because Sally loves chocolate." laughs Colin. "And everyone knows I’m a bit of a joker."
Fortunately,
lisseurs ghdS, he had a couple of close friends who managed to keep his feet on the ground.
He said: "I think I coped quite well because I had some good friends who supported me. I could let my emotions out with them – if I'd been on my own it would have been more difficult."
Sally's family and friends were certainly taken aback by her decision to let Colin take over her big day.
Sally, who works for
GHD hair straighteners, added: "At first they were a bit shocked. They couldn’t believe I let him do it because I’m normally a bit of a control freak and Colin is a bit of a comedian. That’s when the seriousness of it sunk in. I just thought, well I’m going to marry him so I have to trust him,
ghd IV styler! I think more brides should let the man organise it all – it’s less stress."
