History of Clae. Founded 2001, Clae’s collection of original silhouettes breathes new life into traditional footwear. The founder and creative director. Sung Choi was born in Seoul, Korea,tods men, raised in New York City during the Koch/Dinkins era, which was during the 80s and 90s. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School with a major in Industrial Design. He joined pioneering streetwear brand PNB Nation in the early ‘90s, then relocated to California in 1997 to design footwear for DC Shoes. He launched Clae footwear in 2001 while also serving as design director for Lakai Footwear. In this first year, Clae received the “Best Men’s Footwear Collection” award from Sportswear International. Unfortunately,tods moccasin, the back end of his business wasn’t right so he put the brand on hiatus in 2004. He re-launched Clae for fall 2007 and now they’re celebrating Clae 10th anniversary.
