The rumors circulating previously this week had been accurate: Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on its MSN/Windows Live Butterfly system.More than the previous few several years,Microsoft Office 2007 Product Key, the Butterfly testers got pre-beta Windows Live goods and providers before the public had a chance to test them. They supplied Microsoft with normal feedback and did some neighborhood outreach.I asked Microsoft about its decision to close the system. A spokesperson sent the subsequent response:“The Butterfly group has been involved in beta testing MSN and Windows Reside goods for a number of many years. Rather than continue the system as something only focused on beta testing,Windows 7 Ultimate, we’re offering the group a variety of options to engage in the broader Windows Live local community,Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise, including the option to join the MVP (Most Valuable Professional) system and continued and future access to beta testing opportunities.”Wikipedia;s already been updated to reflect the demise of the Butterfly system,Office 2010 Activation, noting it was closed in June 2009.Update: I see a number of folks noting on Facebook and Twitter that they obtained their MVP renewal notices from Microsoft today,Office 2010 Professional, the first day of Microsoft;s fiscal 2010. I wonder if any former Butterflies will be among the 2010 MVP crew.
