Thumbs up Lacoste x Zaha Hadid Shoe Collection « Corridor40

Lacoste and Zaha Hadid have collaborated to create a stunningly space-age shoe mulberry handbags mini-collection. This collaboration paired the celebrated garment expertise of Lacoste with the futurist architectural style of Zaha Hadid. The shoes first came into being following the creation of a digitized image of Lacoste's logo in a pointillist fashion. It instigated Hadid's exploration of repetitive patterns in the shoe's form, and she ultimately utilized this dynamic fluid grid as inspiration. On the grid, Hadid explains, "When wrapped around the shape of a foot,…[it] expands and contracts to negotiate and adapt to the body ergonomically. In doing so, a landscape emerges, undulating and radiating as it merges seamlessly with the body." It sounds and looks like something out of science fiction, but this is nothing new for the world-renowned architect, whose works include monumental buildings around the globe–from the Guangzhou Opera House to the Phaeno Science Center, and a multitude of impressive restaurants and pavilions in between. The shoe was paul smith bags realized using a relatively new prototyping technique called Direct Metal Laser Sintering. Sintering is a process by which metals, ceramics and plastics are made by heating a powder without bringing it to a molten state. In many cases, it is made in a computer using Computer Aided Design, which formulates thousands of cross-sections that are then "printed" layer by layer in a machine to formulate a 3-D form. This is exactly how the wavy textures are created in the shoes. The leather is then treated and stretched paul smith handbags over these stainless steel plates, and–with a light touch–forms seamlessly around the wearer's Twitter For Andro?supra strapped id Update ... - Supra Shoes UK Shop ankle and calf. There are only 850 pairs in the limited edition collection, and all are selectively sold only in Paris (at Colette), London (at Dover Street Market) and Milan (at 10 Corso Como). How long they will be on shelves is hard to say, but surely not long at all–as futurist shoe fans the world over will undoubtedly want to acquire these works of art for their personal collections. -April Whitlow Images via stiletto.fr On Twitter: @LACOSTE, @10CorsoComo, @coletteparis
