COM port on Win7

Hello,
I am trying to use my Pc COM port.
1) Computer (Win7 32b) device manager lists COM1 (and LPT1),
Advanced BioFuels USA,
Office 2007 Enterprise, tells that device is working properly
2) at the back of the Personal computer I have 25pin connector (2 rows female)
3) I connected 25pin Male to 9pin Male adapter
4) My peripheral (EasyPIC5) has 9pin Female connector
5) I set peripheral to send one byte constantly
6) I use this USART Terminal sw for testing

7) In terminal,
Microsoft Office Professional 2007, I can see COM1,
Windows 7 Sale, I can connect but I can't get any data
Where could be the problem ?
What should I check ?
