Key to Awesomeness: What started as Katie asking for the help of a few friends turned into the community organization Mermaid dresses, Girls Who Make a Difference.
Katie organized more than 25 middle school girls from Davis Academy White dresses, Pace Academy and her own Ridgeview Charter Middle School to volunteer wth such charities as the Community Action Center Cocktail dresses, Sandy Springs Mission Purple dresses, Genesis Shelter A-Line dresses, Sandy Springs Conservancy inexpensive prom dresses, Ronald McDonald House 2011 Prom Dresses, Refugee Resettlement Services of Atlanta and the William Breman Home.
Katie and the Girls Who Make a Difference also collected teddy bears to send to children in Haiti; and holiday toys and prom dresses for girls in need.
The Honor Beta Club student has earned more than 200 hours of community service and was recently recognized by Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos. She received both the President's Volunteer Service Award and the Prudential Community of Spirit Award for inspiring volunteerism in her community.
