Products are tested and graded for detecting known pieces of malware and reporting 'false positive' results on uninfected files. Nine of the 33 products which underwent the June edition of the test failed to register passing grades. Products which failed the test included those from Norman,Buy Office Professional Plus 2010, eEye,Office Home And Business Product Key, bkis, Frisk,Office 2007 Enterprise Key, Digital Defender and Virusfighter. The testers found that the products performed unreliably when applied to Windows Server 2008. "Such unreliability is particularly significant on a server platform, where administrators require absolute trustworthiness and total trackability of all activities,Microsoft Office Standard 2010," said Virus Bulletin director of testing John Hawes. "A product demonstrating the sort of flaky behaviour we have seen in our tests this month would cause major headaches for an administrator." |
