Abstract Attracting and developing data technology (IT) specialists is one of the leading concerns for organizations. Though significantly study has long been conducted regarding the job habits and attitudes of IT experts more than the final three decades Office Ultimate 2007 Key, findings are inconclusive and contradictory. This suggests that something might be missing in how we look at this phenomenon. Almost all of this research is drawn from theories of enthusiasm, very little examines the effect of social relationships on IT professionals' habits and attitude. Yet Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus, social capital theory indicates that work conduct and attitude may be greatly influenced by these relationships. This indicates that IT professionals' social capital warrants empirical examination. The primary research question that this dissertation addresses is how social capital affects IT professionals' work attitude and habits including career satisfaction Office Standard 2007, organizational citizenship habits, work performance and turnover intention. The analysis model in this dissertation examines the influence of 3 aspects of social capital on IT professionals' work attitude and work habits: tie strength Microsoft Office 2007 Standard, the number of ties and the structural holes. Data were collected from 129 IT specialists from a range of jobs, organizations and industries. Results indicate that tie strength in the organization of an IT professional is positively related to career satisfaction. The number of ties outside an organization an IT professional has is also positively related to task performance. However, hypotheses about organizational citizenship habits and turnover intention are not supported. Several implications for organizational executives and managers are offered based on findings.
